Data sources
Where our data comes from
defects.sg lists Singapore developments and main contractors so a homeowner can find their own home without typing it in. That list is built from public government data, and this page says which.
Listing of Registered Contractors
Building and Construction Authority
The main contractors a development can be attributed to, with the UEN each is registered under.
Contains information from Listing of Registered Contractors accessed on 27 August 2026 from data.gov.sg, which is made available under the terms of the Singapore Open Data Licence version 1.0.
Directory of Renovation Contractors
Housing & Development Board
The businesses permitted to renovate an HDB flat, so search can name a firm that has not signed up yet.
Contains information from Directory of Renovation Contractors accessed on 27 August 2026 from data.gov.sg, which is made available under the terms of the Singapore Open Data Licence version 1.0.
What this data does not tell us
Neither dataset says which contractor built which development. That is not in Singapore’s open data at all, so we never fill it in automatically — every attribution on this site is set by hand, one at a time, and left blank when it is not known.
HDB’s data carries no project name either, so a development we have loaded is named after its street until somebody tells us the name on the paperwork. If yours is wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
These are public records about developments and registered companies. They carry no grade, and nothing on this page is a judgement about anyone.
