defects.sg is a public record of how renovation defects are dealt with in Singapore. It is not a regulator, a licensing body or an accreditation scheme, and being listed here is not an endorsement by anyone.
A grade is computed from the record, by a scheduled job, once a night. Nobody edits a grade by hand. There is no override in the database and no screen anywhere that writes one. It measures a single thing: whether defects raised on a firm's finished projects were fixed, and how long that took. It is not a review score, and it says nothing about price, taste or how the firm was to deal with.
A firm needs at least three finished projects before any letter is published. Below that the registry shows a dash and says why. Defects a firm raises about its own work are neither rewarded nor punished. They are left out of the published fixed rate entirely.
A grade, once earned, stays published. A firm that stops paying is shown as not accepting new projects; its record and its grade remain. Suspension happens only for cause, and it is stated on the page rather than hiding the record.
If something on a record is wrong, tell us at hello@defects.sg and we will look at it. A firm may respond to its own grade, and the response is published beside it.
